Week 6
Social Forces Influencing Education and the School
In this topic, I learned that there are many social forces that can influence education at school. However, in this discussion, I want to emphasize more on the effects of changes in family structure on children's academic performance and achievement. In my opinion, poor family relationships due to changes in family structure can affect children's development and cause emotional disturbance. In result, we can see that some of the children that experience household problems are stiff, and some of them often express their emotions through physical aggression. Also, it is disheartening to know that some of them mentally struggle because they cannot bear the reality of what is going on in their families. Not only that, many students who have been involved in behavioural problems and are suspended or expelled from school often come from students who have experienced a changing family structure. Being suspended or expelled from school is an indicator of serious misbehaviour by the student. It shows that a complete family, consisting of parents and children, can form a healthy mind. This is because love is an essential component in the formation of children's minds. Adolescents who are raised in a separated family tend to experience negative impacts on their intellectual growth.
